The Situation
“I'm staying in Northcote, yet I couldn't get wireless Internet connection. I also didn't want the idea of having a phone line installed for DSL. In most cases, the expense to install a landline is higher than the cost for me to connect to IPSTAR”, she informed.
Broadband Internet Access and Point of Sale (PoS) via IPSTAR
Caroline manages the Cavy Creek in North Shore, a pet rescue organization founded in 2005 mainly focused on providing shelter for homeless guinea pigs. With IPSTAR currently installed in the refuge, she is now able to run a website promoting Cavy Creek and able to raise funds for the organization by selling guinea pig products online.
Caroline is also using the Electronic Funds Transfer at Point of Sale (EFTPOS) service via the Thaicom-4 (IPSTAR) satellite for Cavy Creek's retail store.
Previously, she can only take cash payments from the store buyers. And, she often loses out on some customers who do not carry the right amount of cash when purchasing pet products. With an EFTPOS connected to the IPSTAR broadband Internet, Caroline can now take credit and debit cards, aside from cash payments – enabling the retail store to generate more income for Cavy Creek. The newly installed technology also speeds up every buying transaction in the store, thus providing faster and better service for the customers.
For Caroline, having EFTPOS linked to broadband Internet opens the door for a revenue-enhancing and cost-saving service that is simply too expensive for small organizations – like Cavy Creek – to use in the past. “IPSTAR is doing everything I need. It is working well for me – which is great”, she added. |
