November 16, 2005
Sydney, Australia. IPSTAR-Australia – a subsidiary of Shin Satellite Public Company, one of Asia's leading satellite service providers – has launched a satellite broadband service which will bring significant benefits to Australians through higher levels of bandwidth at competitive prices.
The IPSTAR satellite was launched in August, and the service is being operated in Australia through gateways constructed in Broken Hill and Kalgoorlie.
Dumrong Kasemset, Chairman of IPSTAR, said that IPSTAR would deliver a range of services, from Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) to applications, such as broadband Internet and video conferencing, at very competitive prices. "The scale and capability of IPSTAR will significantly lower the financial burden onf Internet Service Providers (ISP) in remote areas, allowing them to develop service offerings similar to those in metropolitan areas", Dumrong said.
Komson Seripapong, General Manager of IPSTAR-Australia, said that the broadband demand is growing steadily in Australia, and that the new IPSTAR service will ensure that remote Australians are not left behind.
