|Australia’s Government Broadband Initiative Helps Boost IPSTAR Sales
March 19, 2007
Sydney, Australia. IPSTAR-Australia, a subsidiary of Shin Satellite Public Company Limited, is expecting stronger growth in 2007 following the expansion of satellite broadband subsidy coverage under government’s AUD 163 million Australian Broadband Guarantee.
The new funding allows IPSTAR to provide service to customers in metropolitan black spot areas, as well as to existing rural and remote markets – ensuring all Australians to have access to high quality broadband service.
Teerasak Sawekpun, General Manager of IPSTAR-Australia, said that there have been requests for broadband from people who live in outer metropolitan areas. “IPSTAR is currently delivering next generation satellite broadband service through Broadband Connect- accredited service providers. IPSTAR has been very successful in promoting its services, with a growing 2,500 customers per month”, he added.
Broadband Guarantee will continue to deliver broadband services to unserved areas, with IPSTAR planning to offer additional services, such as voice, video and distance learning applications.
Warren Ingerson, Executive Director of Australia Private Network (APN), a major service provider of IPSTAR, said, “We expect more take up this year through the Broadband Guarantee. We can start filling in metropolitan black spots once the new subsidy process is underway. APN’s Activ8me service has been successful in delivering IPSTAR broadband to thousands of customers in Australia”.
