June 18, 2007
Nonthaburi, Thailand. Shin Satellite Public Company Limited ("SATTEL"), Asia’s leading commercial satellite service provider and the operator of the IPSTAR broadband satellite, has launched at CommunicAsia 2007 in Singapore its new low cost product IPSTAR maXX. The product allows IPSTAR to be efficiently deployed in multi-user broadband environments, such as for community Internet centers, Multi-Dwelling Units (MDU), Internet cafes, university campuses and corporate offices.
The new maXX product functions as an external TCP accelerator, allowing many users to efficiently transmit high speed data to the IPSTAR satellite. Although the TCP accelerator function is already built-in to every IPSTAR user terminal, maXX further enhances this feature by allowing up to 100 concurrent users to be connected on a single user terminal. In addition, maXX supports the security protocol IPSec to provide highly secured data links. Additional features of the product include Quality of Service (QoS) with fair sharing policy, bandwidth aggregation by connecting to 2 IPSTAR user terminals and failover for maximum availability.
Patompob Suwansiri, Vice President for Marketing and Sales of IPSTAR, said, “We are very excited to launch our new product maXX which complements our IPSTAR user terminal product line. When combined with the user terminal and standard wireless technologies, such as WiFi and WiMax, maXX enables a low cost broadband solution for multiple user environments. This powerful hybrid solution can further expand our markets by lowering the total cost of ownership per user”.
