Access to high speed Internet via the IPSTAR satellite is almost as easy as any conventional, terrestrial broadband connection. IPSTAR enables your home or small office to avail of Internet speeds much faster than a dial-up connection – with a file transfer speed that is up to 70 times faster than dial-up. A single IPSTAR 84-cm. or
120-cm. diameter satellite dish and an IPSTAR satellite modem are all you need.
Accessing the Internet at high speeds opens up a world full of information and entertainment. You will be able to surf the web at faster speeds, download music and movies, share photos with friends and family, and much more.
IPSTAR currently has 15 gateways in 12 countries across the Asia Pacific region that connect IPSTAR's satellite access network with the Internet. Each gateway consists of microwave, fiber backbone and other broadband equipment that quickly and efficiently route the traffic from a customer's PC to the Internet and back.
IPSTAR utilizes a state-of-the-art Ku-band communications system aboard the IPSTAR satellite. Our satellite occupies a geostationary orbit at 119.5° east and is located 36,000 kilometers above the equator. IPSTAR's advanced technology and low cost structure allows us to provide residential and small office users with high Internet speeds at low bandwidth prices.
IPSTAR Satellite Dish
Using the latest microwave receive and transmit technologies, IPSTAR offers a small, efficient satellite dish which can be mounted on a roof, wall or ground pole. IPSTAR's 84-cm. and 120-cm. diameter antenna dishes receive the signals from the IPSTAR satellite, and send the signals from the customer back to the satellite.
IPSTAR Satellite Modem
An IPSTAR modem is required to connect one or several customer PCs to the IPSTAR network. IPSTAR develops its own satellite terminals. Specially designed for your home or small office, the IPSTAR iCON satellite modem features a user-friendly interface and promises years of trouble-free operation. The iCON enables up to 4 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload connectivity for a variety of bandwidth demanding applications, such as high speed Internet, voice and video communications, and media streaming. The IPSTAR satellite modem supports Windows, Linux and Macintosh operating systems.
Connected via Ethernet to the IPSTAR modem, your PC will have high speed Internet access. You can either connect your PC directly to the IPSTAR modem with an Ethernet cable or you can attach a wireless hub/router to the IPSTAR modem and connect to the Internet via a wireless network.
