IPSTAR service provider CS LoxInfo (CSL) and Thai Highway Police have teamed up to offer travelers free IPSTAR-enabled Internet acess in police operated rest areas nationwide. The rest areas along major Thai highways are equipped with IPSTAR User Terminals to enable high speed Internet over the IPSTAR satellite.
The move to provide free Internet access is part of the Thai Highway Police department’s program to reduce road accidents caused by fatigue drivers. The project intends to improve overall travel conditions through “rest and recreation” for drivers. IPSTAR service provider CS LoxInfo supports the project with computer equipment, IPSTAR User Terminals, and sponsors the Internet access fee for one year.
Travelers are invited to take a break from a long journey, can search useful travel information such as weather forecasts or road conditions. Currently seven Highway Police operated rest areas along major routes in Chiang Mai, Saraburi, Phuket, Prajinburi, Khonkan, Pattaya, and Hua Hin offer free broadband Internet via the IPSTAR satellite.
IPSTAR’s massive 45 Gbps bandwidth capacity—in combination with the satellite platform’s ability to provide an immediately available, high-capacity ground network with affordable bandwidth—allows for rapid deployment and flexible service locations.
