THAICOM-3 Safely De-orbited
Shin Satellite conducted its last operations on THAICOM-3, safely de-orbiting the satellite by moving it beyond its orbital slot of 50.5 degrees East.
The procedure became necessary because the power loss was such that the satellite could not provide further service. The de-orbit of the THAICOM-3 Satellite has no adverse effect on our services, as all customers have been transferred to the newly launched THAICOM-5 Satellite lately.
“THAICOM-3 was a valuable spacecraft in our fleet and provided services to a great variety of customers while it operated over Asia at 78.5 East. During its 9 years of service, it supported broadcasters, cable programmers, government agencies, and private corporate networks delivering television throughout the region over its 25 C-Band and 14 Ku-Band transponders.,” said Dr. Dumrong Kasemset, Executive Chairman, Shin Satellite.
Since late 1997, the satellite's global beam coverage spanned over four continents and provided service to users in Asia, Europe, Australia, and Africa.
