Thaicom-4 (IPSTAR) is an integrated space-ground broadband satellite and
solution: the broadband satellite's innovative ground and space technologies enable the delivery of cost-effective broadband for any location lacking access to terrestrial infrastructure and instant coverage in blind spot areas. The high throughput broadband satellite is designed to provide cost-effective applications for Asia-Pacific's mass and vertical markets:
residential, business, and government users alike.
Thaicom-4 (IPSTAR) is a multiple spot beam bent-pipe satellite without on-board regenerative payload. All intelligence, switching and routing capability is based on ground, permitting future upgrades of the system platform's electronics and software. Advanced error correction coding allows the use of small antennas. And thanks to its high bandwidth capacity and innovative ground system network of gateways and satellite terminals, Thaicom-4 (IPSTAR) can connect up to 2 million broadband users or backhaul for 20-30 million mobile subscribers.
Dynamic Power Allocation against rain-fade, Narrow Spot Beam Technology, and Frequency Reuse facilitate high link availability and high bandwidth capacity, offering much lower cost per circuit than existing shaped beam satellites.
